Your heart makes more decisions than you think!
The main reason why a company designs it´s products is because it really pays off.
Design per se is the principal reason for emotional attachment (or detachment) relative to a product or service or experience. (Tom Peters)
Eyes, heart and brain
It is your eyes and tactile senses that send the first signals to your brain. If your product has a archetypal shape or colour your brain will send an alert signal to your heart. The signal goes back from the heart to your brains with the following message: "OK, I really like this and I can trust it, it'll do me good." And the choice is on its way.
Your brain then tries to find good rational reasons for why the product is the right one to choose among many others. Having found the rational arguments that can back up the first choice of your heart, the final decision is made.
Perception is everything
The bottom line of all industrial design is that "perception is everything." That's why you should not market a single product if it hasn't been designed by industrial designers.
